What is Mixer?
Mixer is an opportunity for people to try something they have always wanted to do. Each month, we are set two prompt words to choose from, then must create something, anything, in response to this during our down time. This is a great chance to try out new skills, or pair up with someone you may not always get the chance to work with! At the end of the month, we all join Mixer Lounge, where we come together to show off our creations.
FREEDOM
For my first Mixer, I partnered up with a copywriter to create a comic strip. We chose to explore the idea around Female Freedom and society's ability to take this away from women by pushing unrealistic beauty standards upon them.
We took the Stonewall slogan and created a witty end frame, to tie together our campaign.

BOOK
I used this Mixer as an opportunity to explore some type that I had seen in a tutorial.
The repeated pattern represents the pages of a book. The vibrant colours represent the excitement we can experience when reading, while putting this against the black background created a sense of depth, adding to the feeling of getting 'lost.' By adding a simple white border to the illustration, it shows the ability for a book to take over someone's mind and take you away from the confines of your daily life.
Solo project
PUNCHY
For this Mixer, everyone was paired up randomly, and had max 2 hours to create a response.
I was paired with an animator, and together we decided to play with the word 'punchy.' We created 'Punchy Quotes' a mockumentary series of ridiculous celebrity quotes.
I illustrated celebs as animals in a cartoon style, while James created the title sequences and brought my illustration to life!
